About me
WHAT DO WE DO?
At The Book Shelf, we help aspiring nonfiction authors bring their books to life, taking them from idea to bookshelf—from coaching to critique, editing to design, proofreading to self-publishing, and marketing. Whether it's a constructive critique, a compelling writing style, or a captivating book cover, we've got your back.
We've worked on over 500 books with authors around the globe—from first-timers to New York Times bestsellers because we believe that great books can make the world a better place. We're also on a mission to make the publishing industry more accessible, welcoming, diverse, and inspiring.
WHO ARE WE?
We're a collection of book professionals with insider industry experience and relevant degrees.
Our team of bookworms includes specialist editors, designers, proofreaders, and marketers who know what readers want and how to deliver it. If you choose to work with us, you’ll get an honest, supportive, and challenging partner that will make your book better. Our team is a mixture of genders, backgrounds, and neurodivergencies, and we're proud to have been shortlisted for awards in sustainable business, equality & diversity, and people development.
WHO AM I?
I'm Ameesha Green, an English Literature & Philosophy graduate from the University of Birmingham with over 12 years' of industry experience. This includes working in-house for a niche book publisher, as a freelance digital nomad while travelling the world, and running my own company, The Book Shelf, which I founded in 2018. I believe that we should all strive to make the world a better place for others, be that through books or your specialist area.
WHO DO WE WORK WITH?
We work with any author who wants to make the world a better place, whether that's through sharing their personal story, teaching the reader something, or sharing a new approach. Our genres range from self-help to philosophy, health to psychology, careers to business and entrepreneurship, and popular science. We want to make the publishing industry more diverse and accessible, so we also work with first-time authors, non-native speakers, under-represented voices, and those with neurodivergencies.
